The Accord Coalition has offered its gratitude to supporters of inclusive schools who have left the House of Commons, and expressed its enthusiasm to work with existing and new Parliamentarians who share its goals. 182 new MPs have taken their seat following this month’s General Election. Accord supporters leaving the Commons include:
- Naomi Long – long standing supporter of integrated schools, formerly MP for East Belfast and current Deputy Leader of the Alliance Party, Northern Ireland’s largest non-sectarian Party
- Dr Julian Huppert – previous Liberal Democrat MP for Cambridge
- Tim Yeo – Conservative MP from 1983 until 2015, having formerly served in several posts in Government and as a senior spokesperson for his Party
Chair of Accord, Rabbi Dr Jonathan Romain, said ‘We look forward to working with current Parliamentarians, but the campaign continues in and outside of Parliament. We are very grateful for the help and support we have received from those who have left the Commons, and look forward to working with them again in future.’
